• Working with young people in England to set up a National Black Youth Forum to tackle racism and violence.
• Helping major UK companies such as Littlewoods, Pentland and Sainsburys develop responsible approaches to child labour.
• Working with the Cabinet Office to set standards and devise training on providing public services for children.

• Training 600 young Colombians as health promoters to prevent HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
• Succeeding in getting 22,000 Venezuelan children without official documents registered so they could get healthcare and an education.
• Improving the supply and distribution of medicines in 114 clinics and hospitals in Haiti and training almost 200 staff to prescribe and administer them.

• Training over a thousand young people serving on 84 student committees to influence the running of their schools in Tanzania.

• Developing a scheme in Pakistan to phase out child labour by helping weaver families to sell their own carpets instead of through exploitative contractors.
• Involving over 300,000 supporters in an award-winning Sri Lankan campaign to protect children from war.
• Challenging discrimination against people with HIV/AIDS in Vietnam through the production of an award-winning video.

Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Northern Iraq, Palestine, Syria.

Save the Children's recent work has included:

• Involving 700 Palestinian refugee children in Lebanon in summer camps - tackling issues including conflict resolution, landmines and protecting the environment.
• Pioneering a teachers' training manual in Northern Iraq which promotes active rather than learning by rote.
• Working with the government and local agencies in Syria to improve conditions in institutions for disabled children.
