How to get free delivery at Mothercare

Delivery is free on all UK mainland orders over £150. Other UK deliveries are charged at £4.95 per order, (excluding Channel Islands and BFPO). If the order is over £100 and you paid using a Mothercare card then delivery is free. (Free delivery is not applicable on orders to the Channel Islands and BFPO addresses).

Buying a pram online

Buying a pram is one of the biggest expenses when you're kitting out for a baby so its essential to make sure you get the right one for you.

Firstly think about your lifestyle and what you'll be doing after the baby is born, are you going back to work, will you be taking baby to nursery everyday, will you travel a lot, do you have a car, do you plan to go on public transport.

By working out what you need to do with your baby you'll get an idea of what sort of travel system you need.

Do you need a car seat? Will you have one fitted in your car? Will you have one to put in friends cars if you don't drive yourself?

Will you need one which folds up easily, single handedly so you can jump on the bus easily? Do your buses have special floors which lower to let you get on without folding the pram up?

Do you want one pram to last you a long time so it'll need to turn into a pushchair too?

Mothercare offer a refund or exchange on pushchairs - it is returned unused and within 28 days of purchase - which means if you buy one and don't get on with it then you can return it.

Until your baby is three months old it needs to be able to lie down flat for proper support and to protect their back.
If you're having twins then you'll need to take this into account too. If you have an older child consider options which allow for a seat for them too.

As your baby gets older it can be sat upright and you have more options, although its still nice to have a lie-flat option so they can nap whilst you're out and about.

How much room do you have to store your pram at home? Do you have enough room to leave it up or will it needed to be stored folded? Will a bigger pram fit through the doors to your home?

If you plan on going shopping with your baby then a handy shopping basket makes sense - some models have really good udnerneath storage which makes them very useful.

Will you be going for walks in the country? If you need something for rougher terrain then consider one with the flexibilty to cope.

If you're planning on more than one child you should look for a pram that will last!
