There are lots of different types of cots available for your baby. Many people have a moses basket when their baby is newborn as this can easily be carried from room to room without disturbing the baby, and it will fit easily into the parents bedroom. Experts recommend that the first six months of a baby's life they should sleep in the same room as their parents. This isn't practical for many people once the baby needs something bigger than a moses basket. When it comes to choosing the cot for your child's nursery you have several decisions to make. Do you want a fully coordinated set of furniture? Do you want white, natural or painted wood, There are several lovely ranges available that includes wardrobes, changing units and storage as well as the cot. Do you want the cot to be able to be used as their first bed too. Whilst it may seem more expensive buying a multi-function cot you will save money in the long run as you don't have to pay out for their first bed. You should check how many height settings a cot has too. One with too few height options will mean your child may be able to climb out very easily. A high setting also means you don't get back strain putting your baby into the cot when it's small. As babies grow and start to be able to pull themselves up, you need to be able to adjust the heights of the cot so the baby can not accidentally fall over the edge. A very low setting prevents this and can often mean the cot can be used as a first bed with the side removed.
